Finally on a somber note , I would like to express my condolences to the recent passing of one of my Bass Guitar idols Anthony Jackson .Bit of a shock really something you don't expect .But i have to say that he was a big inspiration to me in my teen years when i was still fumbling about trying to learn stuff .I bought my first 6 String Bass Guitar because of him, he invented the 6 String Bass .I understood his concept for more range on the neck more notes more expression.4 Strings just was'nt enough.I first heard his playing on Al Di Meolas album Elegant Gypsy from 1977 .I looked on the album credits to find out who the Bass Player was ,i saw Jackson on the credits and immediately assumed that it was Paul Jackson from The HeadHunters ,Herbie Hancock but then i realized that it was a different dude all together just because of the playing and style of playing, phrasing etc .And thats when i got into him and started to learn some of his Bass lines.I was also listening to Stanley Clarke as well at the time. A great time to discover Musicians. But i always had a great admiration for Anthony Jackson Maintain The Groove & Stay Funky !!!
